Hazar is Demoted
The planet of the red moon from orbit. Sunrise on the planet's surface. Carver's voiceover explains that they're saluting Hazar for his efforts for peace. While, y'know, we look at wreckage from the various bases here that have been destroyed. Totally not a funeral for all the fallen troops. Totally.
Wolo and the dude form the sea team who's the same race look at pictures of blue girls in bikinis while sitting in tents on the shore. The other team members are similarly relaxing.
Carver, Hawkins, and the Voltron team leads have a meeting with nonsense dialogue about Hazar and peace while something else is clearly suggested by the action.
Keezor's voiceover says he is uninterested in Hazar's plan, and a massive Drule fleet launches. Keezor then turns from the observation windows to look over two "Krypto-robeasts" that are, um, sparring. Then Nerok appears and they plot against Hazar.
Hazar's shuttle travels to the homeworld. The surface is deserted and covered only in ruined buildings. The ship is lowered beneath the surface. Hazar leaps out of his shuttle and is greeted by his sister, Dorma. <3<3<3. They had some really good character designers on this series.
Dorma drives Hazar somewhere, and they are confronted by an angry mob. Hazar insists on talking to them, but they throw stuff him. Right. A tomato. He's totally not bleeding. And then Chancellor Mozak, Hazar's father, somehow convinces them to disperse. They leave chanting "We'll get Hazar!"
For the first time, we see the big council of the Drule Empire. A captain of the guard, Blazak, warns of unrest--he's wearing the standard helmet without a facemask. Throk orders him to accidentally "stun" the crowd. Throk then tells Mozak to take the night home, and the tanks open fire on the crowd. With, ahem, stun weapons.
Hazar protests to Dorma. She lets him out of the car and he runs away. To his parents'? To the council chambers?
The GG council meets to discuss the new planet they've gotten from Hazar.
Oh, it's the council Hazar is running to. The trial is pretty nonsensical "We are evil blah blah muahahaha!" Emperoro Zeppo speaks for the first time. Then we discuss Mongo's um, exile. Hazar describes some crazy flashback that apparently happened in an alternate universe involving cosmic bombs and time traveling ships. EVEN THOUGH WE SEE MONGO GET BLOWED UP. And then troops flood the room and level weapons at Hazar. He's sent home to his parents' to wait for the verdict. Dorma drives him home and he reunites with his parents. We get some more looks at the ruined planet.
Throk oozes and drinks wine while discussing Hazar's fate.
At Hazar's parents' house, we get ANOTHER flashback of the struggle over the planet, this time of Brak's attack on the base, and then Nerok's. However, Hazar is blathering on about Mongo's defeat.
On the planet, the Explorer and her fleet sound an alert and lift off. The Voltron force launches and forms the big guy to escport settlers to the new planet. Which they name Hazar in honor of the man who made the new settlement possible.
Dorma arrives at Mozak's house and hands Hazar the verdict. He reads it and makes an awesome face, and he agrees to it. Dorma salutes and drives off. Hazar tells his parents that he's now in charge of the planet Droska. Mozak throws a tantrum, then Hazar leaves.
Hazar and his parents are, um, at the airport while Hazar prepares to board his ship for exile. Dorma goes with him. Hazar boards a cool-looking new design for the Drule capital ships. Throk and the high command watch Hazar leave, drink wine, and gloat.
Hazar scowls as his new flagship launches.
Meanwhile, Voltron and the Explorer fly to meet the settlers.
Riot on Galveston
We get a brief visual recap of the recapture of Planet K and Drake's death in battle against the Allied fleet. After the title card, we slowly zoom in on Planet K. The red moon is low on the horizon over the bay, and we see the smoldering wreckage of tanks and the crosses marking the solidiers' burial. Commander Date leads a salute of the fallen comrades, and Aki has a breif flashback to the battle for the base.
That night, crewmembers are camped out in tents and looking over mail that Date's fleet has apparently brought. The Salans look at pictures of blue chicks, while Mutsu and Kaga look at more peaceful scenes, and apparently Keats is royalty on his home planet.
Date presides over a meeting. They need to find and eliminate the Galveston base, and Ise has data to suggest it's location. Date decisively states that the time is now to strike.
At said Galveston base. Luciano watches the launch of the Gramont fleet, musing that Planet K is now worthless, and they must plan to strike at earth itself. Luciano watches two battle machines in practice, and Lafitte returns from his defeat on Planet K. Luciano tells him that Teles is now dismissed, and it's only a matter of time before his father, the Home Secretary, is also dismissed.
Teles is aboard his ship, making the final approach to Galveston. Apparently, he has not been home in a very long time. He is shocked to see the surface is completely uninhabitated. His ship lowers itself into a docking port. Teles is greeted by Sirk, an officer from the palace guard. She drives him through the underground city to the palace. Teles wants to get a look at life underground, but they come upon a riot. The mob recognizes the car as belonging to a government leader. Teles urges Sirk to stop and tries to reason with them, but gets pelted with rocks. Then Tes, Teles' father, flies overhead and tries to disband the mob. The rioters decide to go to the government administration building.
At the government building, the council is meeting, and blaming Tes and Teles for the riots. A captain of the guard appears to report that the mobs have converged on the building. Caponero urges Emperoro Corsair to dismiss Tes in absentia and he and the captain go to deal with the crowds. Using lethal force, naturally. Caponero contacts Tes and tells him that he's been dismissed. Then the tanks roll and the rioter are massacred/ Quite graphically, I might add.
In Sirk's car, Teles is takingthe blame for not having found a suitable planet. Then they come upon the bodies of the rioters, many of whom are still alive and wounded. Teles bounds out of Sirk's car and rushes to the administrative chambers. He enters, and the four council members and the emperor look at him. Caponero taunts him, and Teles demands to know who ordered the suppression of the riot. Caponero tries to shout him down, but the emperor allows him to speak. Teles tries to convince them to perform their search with Earth's help, but the council members are unmoved and Caponero summons guards. Then he drops the bomb that Tes has been dismissed as well. The emperor tells him that he will later be notified of his status. He broods as Sirk drives him to his fathers estate. He thanks her, and she voices her support for his father and himself.
Teles meets with his parents, and the men of the house brood over the fact that they've both lost their jobs. Oh, and that the planet is headed for impending destruction. And that they're cowardly heretics.
Caponero is drinking wine with Science Secretary Gomez, who questions the wisdom of keeping the Socrat family together. Caponero has a plan.
Tes asks Teles about the Earth forces. He says that they are simply exploring the galaxy for a star map, but the rash actions of Barataria, Lafitte, and other of Caponero's partisans, were constantly goaded into battle. Every attempt at concession or settlement ended in failure.
On Planet K, the Rugger Guard and the Allied Fleet launch to begin their search for the Galveston frontline base. The Rugger teams deploy and for Dairugger to fly escort.
Sirk returns to the Socrat household, with news of Teles' new assignment. She hands him the directive, and he reads it and accepts. Sirk leaves to inform the council. He has been demoted from front line commander to captain of the survey team. Tes is upset, but Teles tells him that it gives him the ability to search for habitable planets.
At the spaceport, Teles offers his parents his farewell. Tes expects good results, and Teles tells him he has the support of the Galveston people. Sirk arrives and informs him that she has been assigned as his adjutant. They board a home fleet ship, a bit more ornate compared to the frontline ships we've seen thus far, and Teles orders the launch. Luciano, Gomez, and some other dude watch him leave and celebrate.
Teles prays for the end of his search, and that Earth will be strong enough to withstand the comig conflict.
Dairugger leads the fleet through space, searching for the Galveston frontline base.
